Mahamasthakabhisheka Mahotsava – 2018Mahamasthakabhisheka, the head anointing ceremony is performed once in 12 years to the 57 feet tall monolithic statue of Lord Bahubali at Shravanabelagola. The event is being be held under the leadership of His Holiness Swasti Sri Charukeerthi Bhattarakha Swamiji of Shravanabelagola from 17th-25th February 2018.


Shravanabelagola/Sravanabelagola is one of the most important Jain tirth (a sacred place) of the Jains in South India. It is a place of great importance from the point of pilgrimage and also archeological and religious heritage. The place derives its name from the point that Shravana or Shramana means a Jain ascetic and Belagola or Biliya Kola means white pond.


The smaller hill is known locally as Chikkabetta / Chandragiri. Its history dates back to 3rd Century B.C. It houses 14 Jain Basadis, Badhrabahu cave & numerous inscriptions…..



The bigger hill is known locally as Doddabetta / Indragiri. Its history dates starts from 981 A.D. The 57.7 feet monolithic statue of Lord Bahubali and other Jain temples…..



With in the town are found the Jain Math Headed by His Holiness Swasti Sri Charukeerthi Bhattrakha Swamiji, Kalyani & 7 other Jain Basadis are found…..



Kalasha Distribution Committee has been constituted for distributing Kalashas to devotees aspiring to perform Kalasha abhisheka to Lord Bahubali during the Mahamastakabhisheka Mahotsava.
