Shravanabelagola, August 1, 2017: A three days National Level Jain Mahila Sammelana (National level Jain Women Conference) will be held at Sri Kshetra Shravanabelagola from 11th-13th August 2017 on the occasion of Gommateshwara Bhagawan Sri Sri Sri Bahubali Swami Mahamastakabhisheka Mahotsava – 2018. Mathrushri Hemavati V Heggade of Dharmasthala has been constituted as the president of the conference.
The proceedings of the conference will begin from 9:00 AM onwards with Abhisheka Pooja & Mangala Kalasha Sthapana at Chavundaraya Mantapa followed by Procession. The procession will arrive at Conference venue – Pattamahadevi Shantala Sabha Mantapa, Gommatanagar, Shravanabelagola.
The conference will be held under the Holy Presence of Acharya Sri 108 Vardhamansagarji Maharaj and other Jain ascetics and under the Holy Guidance of His Holiness Swasti Sri Charukeerthi Bhattarakha Swamiji of Shravanabelagola Jain Math.
Inaugural Function – The conference will be inaugurated by Dr.Kiran Bedi, Honorable Governor, Puducherry. Smt Umashri, Honorable Minister for Kannada and Culture, Women and Child Development, Govt. of Karnataka will inaugurate the Ladies Hostel. The Souvenir ‘Madhavi’ will be released by Smt. Tara A.Manju, Hassan, this will be followed by a speech from the president Mathrushri Hemavati V Heggade.
Conference Theme – The theme of the conference is “Protection of Culture is our Duty”.
Sessions – Women from all over India will present their papers in different sessions that are organized on all the 3 days.
Sessions Topics – Following are list of topics of different sessions – Contribution of Women in History, Role of Women in Development of Jain Culture, Jain Food Habits and Science, Role of Jain Women in the Development of Human Values, Role of Jain Women in the Development of Human Values, Contribution of Women in the Field of Religion, Women Entrepreneurship and Self Reliance, Women in the Field of Science and Technology.
Discourse by Jain Nuns – On the last and final day the respected Jain Nuns (Mathajis) will deliver discourses.
Felicitation Function – A felicitation function for felicitating outstanding women achievers in various fields has been organized during the conference.
Valedictory Function – Smt Rohini Sindhoori Dasari, Deputy Commissioner, Hassan District, will be the chief guest of the valedictory function. Renowned Kannada writer and scholar Nadoja Dr.Kamala Hampana will deliver the Valedictory speech.
Cultural Programme – Cultural programs have been organized in the evenings on all days of the conference. Various Jain Women organizations from across India will be performing in the cultural program. Jwalamalini Nrutya Rupaka, Jwalamalini Nrutya Rupaka, Lokapujita Vrushabasuteyaru (A dance drama on Brahmi & Sundari) are some of the main attractions among the cultural programs.
Mahamasthakabhisheka Mahotsava – ‘Mahamasthakabhisheka’ is the head anointing ceremony performed once in 12 years to the 57 feet high monolithic statue of ‘Lord Bahubali’ at Shravanabelagola, Hassan district, Karnataka, India.
