Shravanabelagola (Karnataka), May 27, 2005: About 633 patients were operated fir eye ailments and 2000 were examined as a part of Mahamasathakabhisheka Celebrations – 2006. His holiness Swasti Sri Charukeerthi Bhattarakha Swamiji of the Shravanabelagola Jain Mutt blessed them and said that service to humanity is service to God. He added that Shravanabelagola always stood by the poor and grieved and the present scheme has provided vision to the needy. A week long camp was held to identify people with visual defects. C.S.Puttegowda the legislator; district family welfare officer Dr.Nagaraja Rao, A.R.Nirmal Kumar, Working president of the mahotsav & H.N.Rajendra Kumar the chairman of the scheme were present on the occasion. Kotresh, The principal, staff and students of Bahubali school of nursing motivated the patients of the places in and around Shravanabelagola. This scheme was a result of collaboration by project ‘Drishti’ & People Welfare Subcommittee (Janakalyana Committee).
