BR Hills Sanctuary
A unique blend of hill resort and wildlife sanctuary, BR Hills takes its name from the ancient Rangantha Swamy Temple. The great Champak tree (Dodda Sampige) here is believed to be more than 2000 years old. Other places of interest are the coffee estate, the tribal hamlets and the Vivekananda Girijana Kalyana Kendra that displays information on the tribes and biodiversity of the region.

Cauvery Fishing Camp
The Mahseer, Asia’s premier sporting fish, is the pride of the Cauvery River and a prized catch for committed anglers at the Cauvery Fishing Camp. Visitors can also trek to the top of the adjoining hill or raft down the rapids of the Cauvery.

Bannerghatta National Park
Located on the southern outskirts of Bangalore, this 25,000 acre park is home to panthers, lions, tigers and a large variety of birds. The safari offered for the visitors at the park is, without doubt, the best way to see the wildlife up close.

Kokkrebellur Pelicanry
Kokkrebellur, in the sugarcane-rich district of Mandya is home to spot-billed pelicans and painted storks that come here for nesting. In fact, their arrival is welcomed joyously by the villagers.

Gudavi Bird Sanctury
Surrounded by agricultural fields on the west and north: and by moist deciduous forests on the east and south, Gudavi Bird Sanctury in Shimoga district is rich habitat with 191 species of flora and fauna being identified around it.

Ranganthittu Bird Sanctury
Ranganthittu Bird Sanctury is an all-season picturesque preserve for a huge variety of birds. An early morning boat ride is a great way to watch birds here. The sanctuary is situated about 5km upstream from Srirangapatna, where the Cauvery River flows around a string of tiny islets.

Mandagadde Bird Sanctuary
Situated 30km from Shimoga, Mandagadde village is visited by the median egret, the little cormorant and the darter with the advent of the monsoons. Although a majority of the birds stay on till the end of September, at this peak in August, the total number of birds in the sanctuary is estimated at about 5000.
