Shravanabelagola, September 2, 2004: The central archeological department of South Karnataka has under taken the yoeman task of rendering protection to the old monuments of Vindyagiri & Chandragiri hills Shravanabelagola. Shravanabelagola the historical place bears a very rich ancient testimony of more than 2000 yearsold. The measures have been taken to protect the temples inscriptions, idols, etc. by erecting the fortified walls around the top of the. The serene atmosphere of the places will be maintained. Shravanabelagola is observing the historic event of Mahamasthakabhishekha of Lord Gommateshwara in the ensuing 2006. The idols of Tirthankaras placed around Lord Bahubali are resuscitated and kept tidy. The other measures intended to be taken include paving the proper paths leading to Badrabahu cave and other monuments. A wide publicity will be given to enlighten the pilgrims about the historical importance of this place.
